Still in the field, not just in print
Craig Migliaccio holds an HVACR Master License in New Jersey, has over 16 years in the trade and owns an HVAC contracting business.
Most techs buy the air conditioning title first. Then a ductless call goes sideways a few months later and they come back for the mini split side. This set skips the second trip.
It is the complete refrigerant charging and inverter mini split training set, ordered once, at $22 less than buying the pieces apart. Useful if you are building a reference shelf from nothing, or kitting out an apprentice who needs both subjects rather than whichever one came up first.
Across the set you cover two separate bodies of work.
Refrigerant charging and service, ducted systems:
- Total Superheat and Total Subcooling, and which metering device calls for which
- The total weight charging method, including refrigerant per foot of line set
- Recovery, evacuation and the vacuum procedure
- Leak detection methods and pressure testing limits
- A2L refrigerants, R-32 and R-454B, with the tools and handling that come with them
Inverter mini splits, ductless:
- How a variable speed system actually operates
- Commissioning, flaring and line set work
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting sequences for ductless faults

One order instead of four separate ones.
Buying a title at a time means a gap every time the work moves ahead of what you own. This set closes both subjects at once, and the $22 comes off for taking them together rather than one by one.
See every titleDucted and ductless do not diagnose the same way.
Charge an inverter unit by the fixed superheat and subcooling targets you would use on a single speed condenser and the numbers will send you the wrong way. A variable speed compressor moves the target while you are reading it. That is a different procedure, not a harder version of the same one, which is why ductless gets its own title here.
See what is in the mini split bookThe A/C side is the 2nd Edition.
That edition adds new tools, updated procedures and the A2L refrigerants, R-32 and R-454B. If you are already seeing A2L equipment on service calls, this is the edition that covers it rather than the one that predates it.

★★★★★
"I have spent many years attending the finest courses and colleges to perfect my trade, however you are never too old to pick up new information and tips from other tradesmen. After scouring through literally thousands of YouTube videos, I came across AC Service Tech. I was astounded by the professionalism of this channel and the gentleman that runs it, and if you are a perfectionist, you can spot another perfectionist! I can't help thinking 'If I had my time again, I would love to have been taught by this guy'. Thank you for being an awesome resource."— Stuart B., England, UK
Questions before you order
Who wrote these?
Craig Migliaccio, owner of AC Service Tech LLC. He holds an HVACR Master License in New Jersey, is licensed by the state to teach HVACR, Sheet Metal and Building Maintenance, has over 16 years in the field and owns an HVAC contracting business.
Is the air conditioning title the updated A2L edition?
Yes. It is the 2nd Edition of Refrigerant Charging and Service Procedures for Air Conditioning, which adds new tools, updated procedures and the A2L refrigerants R-32 and R-454B.
How is this different from the two paperback combo?
The paperback combo is the two books on their own. This is the complete refrigerant charging and inverter mini split training set, so it carries more than the two paperbacks, costs more and saves you more off the separate prices.
Can you confirm exactly what arrives?
Email info@acservicetech.com before you order and we will confirm the item list for this combo in writing.
I am still in school. Is this too advanced?
Craig taught HVACR to high school and adult students for years before any of this was written down, so procedures start from the beginning. The troubleshooting sequences stay useful later, once you have calls behind you.
When does it ship?
Orders normally leave within one to two business days, with free shipping inside the USA.
What if it is not what I needed?
Tell us within 30 days and we will refund it. The full terms are on the refund policy page.
Still have a question? Email info@acservicetech.com and a person will answer.
